Kohler generator RDC2 Blue Controller

Recently we've received  the following information from Kohler about releasing new firmware for RDC2 blue controller:

"NEW FIRMWARE RELEASE (12/16/2019 VERSION 1.4.4)
RDC2 BLUE BOARD CONTROLLERS ONLY!

WHAT DOES THIS FIRMWARE DO?
THE NEW FIRMWARE WAS DEVELOPED FOR THE 20RCA GENERATORS,
TO AID IN COLD WEATHER STARTING. THIS VERSION HELPS THE
BUTTERFLY PLATE WITH THE GOVERNOR STEPPER MOTOR, TO PUT
MORE SUCTION ON THE GAS REGULATOR DIAPHRAM INCASE THE
REGULATOR DIAPHRAM IS A LITTLE FROZEN. WE STILL RECOMMEND
GAS REGULATOR HEATERS TO BE INSTALLED ON ALL 20KW’S.


WHY DOES MY GENERATOR KEEP TRYING TO START?
THIS NEW FIRMWARE WILL LET 20KW’S WITH BLUE BOARDS CRANK
ITS STANDARD 3 CRANK CYCLES, BUT INSTEAD OF GOING INTO
OVERCRANK ALARM THE CONTROLLER WILL PAUSE FOR 45 SECONDS
AND TRY 3 MORE CRANK CYCLES, THEN GO INTO OVERCRANK
SHUTDOWN IF THE GENERATOR DOESN’T START. SO, ESSENTIALLY
YOU HAVE SIX ATTEMPTS TO START THE ENGINE.
IS THIS A WARRANTY CALL TO UPDATE FIRMWARE?
KEEP IN MIND, KOHLER WILL NOT PAY WARRANTY TO UPDATE
FIRMWARE ON ANY GENERATOR. THIS IS SOMETHING THAT SHOULD
BE DONE ON A REGULAR SERVICE VISIT."
