Many generators’ owners wonder why they should have their equipment tested by the load bank. NES recommends load bank test to prevent a common condition in diesel engines called wet stacking.
Wet stacking occurs when the fuel is not fully burned and the remaining accumulates in the exhaust system. It can be caused by operating the generator at light load over prolong period which might seriously diminish engine performance and reduce its efficiency. In addition, if ignored wet stacking can significantly shorten generator’s life and result in a need for its quicker replacement.
